Raven Shield compat. issues

Hello all, I have the old original CD's for Raven Shield and Athena Sword and I am having trouble getting them to run. I have tried on Win 8.1 (newest system), windows 7 SP2, and windows XP.

With the XP SP3 system (fresh OS install (AMD X2 3800+ NVIDIA GTX 750)) I was able to run it, however very low in inconsistent frame rate. I tweaked the ravenshield.ini file and messed with NVidia control panel settings and was unsuccessful at getting it to work any better.

With the windows 7 SP2 system (fresh OS install (AMD x2 3800+ Nvidia GTX 750)) I set compatibility mode to XP SP3 and ran as admin and adjusted the ravenshield.ini file to disable fullscreen mode and it doesn't even load. It will go to a blank screen for a second or two and pop me back to the desktop.

With the windows 8.1 system (i7 5820K and Nvidia GTX 1070) I am having the same issues as the windows 7 system.

Anyone have any advice? I am tempted to buy a copy off steam for $10 bucks, but worried that it will still not work.
