Ravenshield Gold Edition from DVD in Win11

Hi community

First of all: I have a Steam account and yes, when I download and install RVS from there, I can play it on my Win11 without a lot of troubleshooting.

However, as I am a fan of collecting / having games locally and not being dependent on some online platform, I prefer either complete downloads from gog.com or using original CDs / DVDs that I still have (from a time when gaming was actually still a lot of fun).
Luckily I still have the Gold edition on DVD and so I thought I'd try it with that.
Unfortunately - and opposite to installation from Steam - I did not get to run it so far.

Here is what I did and tried:
1. Install RVS from DVD - complete installation.
2. Install the RVS patch from 1.0 to 1.6.0 in my language (German)
3. Configured compatibility-mode for the exe-file including "run as admin" - I tried XP SP3 as well as Win7, Win8 etc.

Whenever I start the .exe, it takes about 2 seconds of loading and nothing further happens. The initialization of the game seems to get cancelled for some reason.

4. As a further measure, I downloaded and "installed" the patch provided by the community, namely R63_2020OptimizationPatch. I replaced said files but that also does not make a difference.

Any clues or ideas?

I had the same phenomena when trying to run FarCry 1 with the same OS. There I could fix it by downloading a 64bit-version / patch for the game.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Raphael
